Revamping my Skincare Routine with Mario Badescu

It is a known fact that one should have a skincare routine morning and night as it is an investment when we grow older. Even if you have the most luxurious makeup lined up on your dresser, it won't be much of a use without a good skin as a base. After a little tour on the beauty blogosphere, I decided to up my skincare game by adding some Mario Badescu in it. I purchased them from Sephora last weekend. Below are the three new products added to my arsenal.

A little background on Mario Badescu, the company was founded in 1967 by Romanian-born chemist-cosmetologist Mario Badescu. They pride themselves on manufacturing a botanically-based, effective, and affordable skin care line.

Now let's move on to the products!

1. Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe Herbs and Rosewater
This is a multitasking spray I am currently loving right now. I use it as a setting spray for a dewy finish or a refreshing pick me up for my lackluster mid-day skin. I've tried using it as a primer too and helped my foundation become more blendable. If you are not a fan of rose scent then this might not be for you. Aloe herbs are packed with the good stuff such as amino acids, salicylic acid, and vitamins. Studies have shown that Aloe vera improves fibroblast cell structure and accelerates collagen production process, basically assisting your skin's new cell growth! It is also an effective moisturizer and healing agent for the skin. Rosewater, on the other hand, helps calm the skin and is also an effective antioxidant.

2. Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream
Seaweed by nature is a super food for the skin. It is an antioxidant and anti-aging rolled into one. Seaweed also helps even out discolorations on the skin. The first time I used it, it felt a little heavy on my face. I learned the trick on my second time which is you only need a very little amount and spread it on your face, I am not a fan of the medicinal scent but I am starting to get used to it.

3. Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner
This is a holy grail product beauty mavens have raved about. The active ingredient is the glycolic acid which is an AHA popular for its chemical peeling properties. Although this product only has 2% glycolic acid which is below the minimum effective concentration of 5-10%, I wanted to start in a lower concentration since my skin is a little more sensitive. The product smells clean and as expected, it stings when applied. Let's see if this product pans out well.

I have been using the products continuously for about five days now and I have seen some improvements. My face became a little lighter with pinkish undertones around the cheek area. Peeling and patchiness is inevitable with the glycolic acid toner but I counter it by daily moisturizing and SPF of at least 30. I will give skin updates after one month of this regimen!
